AI Engineer Jobs in Dublin
Europe's Tech Capital.

Dublin hosts EMEA headquarters for Google, Meta, Microsoft, Amazon, and Apple.
Learn how to stand out in Europe's most concentrated AI job market.

Dublin's AI Market Is Brutally Competitive.

Housing costs eat 40-50% of even senior salaries. A job offer means nothing if you can't afford to live there.

Every big tech EMEA role attracts hundreds of applicants from across Europe. Generic applications disappear.

EMEA offices often have lower scope than US HQ. Career growth can hit a ceiling without strategic positioning.

Meet Your Mentor

Zen van Riel

My aim has been the same for years: become a world-class AI engineer. Every career move I've made has been measured against that.

I started as a software tester on a $500/month internship in the Netherlands. Taught myself to code, learned to ship real systems, and worked my way to Senior Engineer at GitHub.

Then I left GitHub. I joined an AI research lab as Member of Technical Staff, where I currently build products for secure AI monitoring.

The cohort draws directly from my real experience so you can make progress fast.

I run this special cohort with only a few people because hands-on work with me is what it takes to bring you to become a world-class AI engineer.

AI Engineer

Built and deployed his portfolio piece, then landed the AI role

"The coaching played a huge part in my success. I focused on AI fundamentals, the certification path, and soft skills like professional writing. Having access to expert guidance gave me confidence during interviews and helped me feel I was on the right path.

I built my own platform (simple but functional) and deployed it on AWS. I used it in my portfolio and showcased it during interviews. The way complex topics were explained, especially the restaurant analogy for AI systems, really stuck with me. Focusing on doing the basics well was absolutely essential."

Frequently Asked Questions

What are AI engineer salaries in Dublin in 2026?

AI engineer salaries in Dublin range from EUR 70,000-95,000 for mid-level roles to EUR 110,000-150,000+ for senior positions at FAANG companies. Staff and principal engineers at Google, Meta, or Microsoft can exceed EUR 180,000 with stock compensation. Irish scale-ups typically pay 15-25% less than big tech but often offer more equity and scope. Note that Ireland's 40% marginal tax rate above EUR 42,000 significantly impacts take-home pay.

How does the Critical Skills Employment Permit work for AI roles?

AI engineering qualifies for Ireland's Critical Skills Employment Permit, which offers a fast-track path to permanent residency. You need a job offer with minimum EUR 64,000 salary (2026 threshold) from an Irish employer. The permit is employer-specific initially but leads to Stamp 4 (open work permission) after 2 years. Processing takes 4-8 weeks. Your employer typically handles the application, but understanding the process helps you negotiate timeline expectations.

Who are the top AI employers in Dublin?

Dublin hosts EMEA headquarters for Google (AI/ML, Search, Cloud), Meta (AI Research, Integrity, Ads), Microsoft (Azure AI, LinkedIn), Amazon (AWS AI, Alexa), and Apple (ML, Siri). Beyond FAANG: Stripe, Intercom, and Workday have strong AI teams. Irish scale-ups like Wayflyer, Flipdish, and Workhuman are growing AI capabilities. Fintech players (Revolut, Square) and pharma (Pfizer, Lilly) also hire AI talent. Each offers different work culture, scope, and compensation structure.

What is Silicon Docks and should I target companies there?

Silicon Docks refers to Dublin's Grand Canal Dock area where Google, Meta, Airbnb, and many tech companies cluster. Working in the Docks offers networking density and career mobility, since you can change jobs without relocating. However, companies outside the Docks (Microsoft in Leopardstown, Amazon in multiple locations, Apple in Cork) often have less competition for roles and sometimes better work-life balance. Don't limit your search to just the Docks area.

Can I afford to live in Dublin on an AI engineer salary?

Dublin's housing crisis is real. Expect EUR 2,000-2,800/month for a 1-bed apartment in desirable areas near Silicon Docks. Sharing reduces costs significantly. A mid-level salary of EUR 85,000 yields roughly EUR 4,800/month after tax. Senior salaries (EUR 120,000+) make Dublin comfortable. Strategies: consider areas like Dun Laoghaire or Drumcondra for lower rent with good transport links. Some engineers negotiate remote arrangements after establishing themselves, living in cheaper areas like Galway or Cork.

Are Dublin AI jobs fully remote or do I need to relocate?

Most Dublin AI roles require at least hybrid presence (2-3 days/week in office). Fully remote EU-wide roles exist but are competitive and often pay less than Dublin-based positions. Big tech companies increasingly require office presence for collaboration-heavy AI work. If you're outside Ireland, target companies that sponsor relocation or have established remote policies. Note that tax residency rules affect remote arrangements, so you generally need to be Ireland-resident for Irish-contract roles.

I've signed up for cohorts before and dropped out. How is this different?

It probably isn't, and you should hold the money. Most cohort dropouts are people who couldn't articulate what they were shipping when they signed up. That's why the consult exists, and why I turn down most applications. If we get on the call and you can't tell me what you'll have shipped at the end of week 8, I'll point you to the AI Native Engineer community until you can.

I'm not pivoting careers. I want to build a product. Does this still work?

Yes, the cohort works for people shipping their first serious AI system whether the goal is to land a senior role or to launch a product. The shipped system serves both equally well.

Do I need prior AI experience?

You need to be able to code in Python or TypeScript. Complete beginners can follow the classroom they get access to before the cohort sessions to come in well-prepared.

How much time will this take?

You'll spend 3 hours every Tuesday in the live session and roughly 3 hours of async work in between, for 8 weeks. The Tuesday session time is fixed.

What does it cost?

It's a four-figure investment that we discuss during the 30-minute consult, alongside whether the cohort is the right fit for your project.

Can I do this while working full-time?

Yes, most attendees do. The live session is one Tuesday a week and the async work fits around your existing schedule, as long as you can carve out roughly 6 hours a week.

I accept those who have the highest chance of success.

In the 30-minute call we discuss your goals and whether you are ready for the program.
